Are you ready to take the lead on major regional projects and drive lasting community impact?
A Regional Council in North West NSW is seeking an experienced and motivated Economic Development Lead to spearhead initiatives that will shape the economic future of the region. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, offering a competitive salary of up to $140,000 + Super + RDO every 3 weeks (an extra 17 days off annually).
This role is based full-time in North West NSW - a must for the hands-on nature of this position and your ability to connect with local stakeholders and the community.
About the Role:
This is a highly rewarding leadership opportunity for someone passionate about regional development. You will oversee a broad portfolio, including:
- Leading Council's economic development function, supporting the growth and diversification of the local economy.
- Driving CBD activation and community vibrancy through events, marketing, and stakeholder partnerships.
- Managing grants and funding programs to enable local business growth and infrastructure investment.
- Collaborating with state and federal agencies to unlock opportunities for the Shire.
- Overseeing strategic assets such as the Memorial Hall and developing Council's signature event to boost tourism and civic pride.
About You:
You are a confident, proactive professional with a background in economic development for local, preferably regional, councils. You are a skilled communicator, capable of advocating for your region at the highest levels and building strong partnerships across government, industry, and the community.
You bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification (or extensive practical experience).
- A strong background in Local Government Development & Planning highly regarded.
- Proven experience in regional economic development or related sectors.
- Strategic thinking, strong leadership skills, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- A genuine interest in helping a regional community thrive.
