About This Opportunity
The University of Queensland is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager, Organisational Resilience to join our Governance and Risk Division. This established position presents a rare and influential leadership opportunity, offering direct engagement with senior executives including the Vice-Chancellor, Provost, and Chief Operating Officer.
In this pivotal role, you will provide strategic leadership in business resilience, guiding the development and implementation of integrated risk management strategies that enhance the University's ability to withstand and recover from internal and external events. You will lead best-practice approaches to business continuity and critical incident management, with a strong focus on governance, training and central coordination across the institution.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provision of expert advice, support and coordination to executive leadership in the event of a critical incident, including post-incident evaluation and continuous improvement. Development and implementation of best practice critical incident management governance, processes and tools including training and exercise coordination in collaboration with relevant functions.
- Development and implementation of a business resilience framework, delivery of training, facilitation of desk-top exercises and scenarios and the development of business continuity plans for high-risk facilities and functions, faculties, schools, institutes and controlled entities.
- Ongoing implementation of the incident management framework including central support and integration of emergency management and detailed response plans for high risk 'foreseeable' events.
- Enhancing management's business resilience awareness, knowledge and capabilities by providing expert advice in relation to the management and coordination of disaster recovery planning and business continuity planning.
- Assisting faculties, institutes and divisions with business impact analysis, identifying time critical functions, determining acceptable recovery timeframes to develop practical business continuity plans and incident management plans.
- Compile and provide relevant, reliable and insightful reports to management highlighting important aspects of the University's business resilience risk profile.

About You
- Significant relevant experience in a business resilience leadership position or equivalent risk management role in a large and complex organisational environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge and a solid understanding of best practice business resilience frameworks, processes and management. Practical experience in incident management and business continuity planning, including the provision of management guidance and expert advice, delivery of training, facilitation of desk-top exercises, scenarios and post incident reviews.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, to act in a considered and respectful way with superior ability to identify and prioritise tasks under demanding circumstances whilst maintaining perspective, a structured approach and staying in control of the situation.
- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships, communicate, negotiate, network, consult and collaborate with key stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and complete tasks by managing priorities within defined timeframes. Highly independent worker with demonstrated personal responsibility in meeting objectives, including the ability to recognise and resolve issues impacting on the achievement of required outcomes.
- Experience in managing business resilience related risks in the higher education sector is not essential but will be highly regarded.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check.
