About the business

HDM Group are a construction company based in South East suburbs of Melbourne, completing projects throughout Victoria. Due to the growth of the company, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team as an Estimator. We undertake a wide variety of work, with majority of our work being self-performed – generally, our works include hard & soft landscaping, carpentry, concrete (pavements & structures) & small civil projects. Our clients include a number of Tier 2 & 3 Building Contractors, Developers, Civil Contractors, State & Local Government and also undertaking a variety of residential projects.

About the role

You will be working and reporting directly with our Operations Manager & Director. Our ideal candidate should have great communication and organizational skills to meet strict deadlines, along with a good attention to detail. You will be responsible for managing our estimating department, with a wide range of daily tasks to be undertaken, including but not limited to the following:

Assist in company forecasting, planning and implementation of growth plans

Manage & review all incoming leads prior to working on projects

Review tender documentation including drawings, specifications & contracts

Estimate projects by using either a supplied bill of quantities or generating a bill of quantities

Develop schedules to undertake detailed and thorough project cost analysis

Preparation & submission of tenders

Liaise with clients, contractors & suppliers

Manage & facilitate project handovers

Skills and experience

Hold a Certificate III Trade Certificate, Diploma or Degree within the construction field

Experience in the landscape industry with both hard and soft landscapes

Previous experience with estimating software & Microsoft office - ideally used Benchmark Estimating

Have excellent time management & organizational skills along with a great work ethic

Self-motivated with enthusiasm to learn

The ability to multi-task

Hold a current construction induction card and drivers license

Working With Children's Check preferred but not essential

Have great technical skills & knowledge along with a keen eye for quality workmanship
