Tier 2 Civil Contractor | Strategic Leadership Role | Permanent Position

Our client is a highly regarded Tier 2 civil contractor with a national footprint and an enviable reputation for delivering complex infrastructure projects across government, defence, and industrial sectors. With a major, multi-year defence project now underway in Darwin, they are seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager or Construction Manager to play a pivotal leadership role across the program.

The Role

Reporting to executive leadership, this senior-level position will oversee multiple work packages and lead a team of project managers and engineers across a strategically important defence infrastructure build. The role will involve high-level stakeholder engagement, governance reporting, and leadership across planning, safety, cost, and program performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversight of multiple concurrent civil project scopes within the broader defence program

Lead, mentor, and guide project managers, site teams, and support functions

Coordinate all stages of delivery: planning, construction, QA, and handover

Ensure program milestones, budgets, and compliance benchmarks are achieved

Drive client and stakeholder engagement, including defence and government bodies

Ensure defence protocols, reporting frameworks, and security requirements are met

Work collaboratively with HSEQ, commercial, and procurement teams across the business

About You:

Minimum 20 years' experience in civil infrastructure, ideally across defence, industrial, government, or complex multi-stakeholder projects

Proven success in managing large-scale or multi-package civil construction programs

Demonstrated leadership of project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholder interfaces

Strong commercial acumen, program control, and technical understanding

Ability to thrive in a high-compliance, high-performance environment

Willingness to be based in or relocate to Darwin for the duration of the project

Defence project experience or NV1 clearance (or eligibility) will be highly regarded
