At Curtin we are committed to embedding the voices and perspectives of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples at the forefront of our decision-making to create an environment in which everyone thrives.

In line with Curtin’s 2030 Strategic Plan, Curtin University is committed to optimising employment outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. In an effort to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait representation in the University, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply for this role, pursuant to Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).

About the Role:
The Business Manager oversees all operational and business functions of the Industry and Community Hub, including organisational structures, budgeting, and activity management. This role plays a key strategic and operational support role to the Academic Lead of the Hub, contributing to business development, strategic planning, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement.

Serving as the primary liaison between the Hub, internal service units, and both internal and external stakeholders, the Business Manager ensures the Hub’s initiatives are delivered efficiently and aligned with its goals.
The role collaborates closely with the Academic Lead, the Partnership & Engagement Director, FBL Student Engagement, Schools, and senior leadership across the Faculty and University. This ensures that the Hub’s operations are well-integrated and aligned with both Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) and Curtin University’s broader strategic objectives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing daily operations to ensure effective service delivery across the Industry and Community Hub.
  • Collaborating with University service groups to develop and implement Hub services and processes.
  • Managing resources and projects to align with the Hub’s goals and timelines.
  • Developing and monitoring budgets in coordination with Faculty and University finance teams.
  • Leading and managing professional staff, including recruitment, onboarding, performance, and development.
  • Managing reporting and contractual obligations, advising the Academic Lead and Faculty Leadership on compliance matters.
  • Supporting strategic and operational planning with the Academic Lead and FBL Learning & Teaching Portfolio.
  • Maintaining strong communication within the Hub and with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Performing additional duties aligned with the role’s responsibilities as required.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Experience in leading highly functional teams creating an inclusive, learning environment that supports continuous improvement.
  • A strong can-do attitude, finding pragmatic solutions to operationally run and enhance the Hub and its objectives.
  • Skills in managing and directing limited resources to achieve business outcomes
  • Outstanding communication with internal and external stakeholders to drive productive working relationships.

As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
