About the role
The Finance Officer is primarily responsible for:
Accounts payable and receivable,
Issuing invoices to participants for out-of-pocket costs (General Service Fees and Activity Costs),
Tracking and following up all unpaid accounts receivable,
Receiving payments from participants and/or representatives and organisations on their behalf,
Preparing, monitoring and recording petty cash floats,
Banking duties – managing cash deposits and withdrawals,
Reconciling bank accounts/statements, and
Ensuring that all payments made and received are processed and recorded appropriately in MYOB,
Supporting the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports.
This role works in collaboration with the Payroll Officer to ensure that all finance tasks for the organisation are completed. As such, the Finance Officer will also be expected to assist with some payroll-related tasks, and is responsible for completing the fortnightly payroll in a relief capacity when the Payroll Officer is absent.
This is a part-time position, 5 days (38 hours) a fortnight. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are preferred days, but flexibility is available.
Salary is as per the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. Classification: Social and Community Services Employee, Level 4, Pay Point based on years of experience.
About you
We are looking for an applicant with strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. The ideal applicant will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be friendly, polite, and a team player who thrives in a small team environment. They will be able to work flexibly in response to changing priorities and have strong time management skills that enable them to prioritise and complete tasks within required deadlines. A high level of respect for privacy and confidentiality is essential.
The successful applicant must have relevant and comprehensive finance experience, an in-depth knowledge of MYOB and experience in its use, and capability to assist with payroll.
A passion for community services is highly valued, and experience in the disability sector is a bonus!
