The Town of Gawler is seeking an experienced and motivated Payroll / HR Officer to become an integral part of our People and Culture team. Reporting directly to the Manager, People and Culture, you will be responsible for overseeing the full payroll function and supporting a range of HR and organisational development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Manage the end-to-end payroll function for Council employees.
Support and implement organisational development programs.
Coordinate learning and development processes, including administration and budgeting.
Provide high-level administrative support to the HR and WHS team.

About You
We are looking for an experienced Payroll and HR professional with strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding service.
You will have:
Demonstrated experience in full-function payroll processing and generalist HR activities.
High-level numeracy skills and strong attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level).
Sound understanding of relevant legislation including PAYG, superannuation, and workers’ compensation.
Familiarity with awards, enterprise agreements, and industrial relations legislation.
You’ll be someone who works well within established guidelines, liaises effectively with internal teams and external providers, and ensures compliance with legislative and policy requirements.
