About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Payroll Officer / HR and Finance Assistant to join our finance team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is integral to processing weekly payroll and overseeing the smooth execution of end-to-end payroll functions. Additionally, the successful candidate will assist the Administration Team with managing HR, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general administrative tasks including employee on-boarding systems and Customer Portals. This position requires a strong understanding of payroll procedures, financial record-keeping, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Accurately and timely process of the weekly payroll for all employees, including regular wages, overtime, and any other compensation or deductions based on timesheets
Maintain employee records, payroll data, and tax information
Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and company policies
Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing and account reconciliation
Process credit applications and manage account setups
Handle customer queries and requests in a professional and timely manner
Reconcile bills using Xero
Assist with invoicing crosschecks to ensure accuracy
Prepare and process weekly batch payment runs
Oversee weekly and quarterly fuel reporting and ensure accurate documentation
Support month-end and year-end financial closing procedures
Assisting with HR processes and requirements
Assisting the Quality Assurance Officer with customer portals and internal HSEQ Management
General administration support across ordering, customer service and document management
About You
Proven experience in a payroll officer role or previous experience working in an accounts, finance or bookkeeping role
Ability to quickly and confidently pick up tasks with minimal supervision
Demonstrated good time management
Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and award systems
A high level of attention to detail, strong mathematical and problem-solving ability and ability to work to deadlines
High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Experience using Xero or an equivalent package is desirable
Experience with HSEQ Management highly favourable
RTW Coordinator qualification or experience is a bonus!
