We’re looking for 2 x Library Technician’s to join our University Library team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in connecting users with the information and resources they need. From assisting users in accessing library services and facilities to maintaining physical and electronic collections, your work will help create a seamless and enriching library experience.
You’ll also contribute to organising and managing information, supporting the development of the library catalogue, and maintaining the University’s institutional repository of research outputs. Working collaboratively with a supportive team, you’ll help create a high-quality service environment that evolves to meet changing needs.

Please note, we have one full time, permanent position and one full time, 12-month fixed term contract position available.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver high-quality, responsive services to clients and stakeholders, ensuring timely issue resolution and offering expert advice on accessing relevant resources.
- Provide training to staff and clients as needed, enhancing their understanding of library systems and services.
- Contribute to the development, review, and refinement of policies and procedures to improve service delivery.
- Assist in managing the daily operations of key library functions, including document delivery and student reading list services, under the guidance of a supervisor.
- Locate, retrieve, and supply information resources as part of document delivery, loan, or acquisition processes.
We are looking for:
- Minimum completion of a relevant Library Technician diploma together with relevant work experience.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, adapting to changing environments while managing time effectively and meeting deadlines.
- Proven experience in delivering high-quality, client-focused services, with a strong aptitude for innovative problem-solving.
- Ability to collaborate with other library staff to plan, coordinate and deliver information programs, activities and support materials.
Role Requirements:
- For the continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
- For the fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of the role
- Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction
Selection Criteria:
- Completion of a relevant diploma together with relevant work experience and eligibility for Library Technician membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.
- Demonstrated knowledge of scholarly information resources and the processes required to obtain, organise and provide access to them.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality, client-focussed services.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing with a wide variety of people and with cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate work group activities and work effectively within a team situation.
- Demonstrated ability to plan work outcomes and prioritise tasks in order to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated computer skills especially with Integrated Library Management Systems, Database applications and the Microsoft suite of applications.
