Are you passionate about providing exceptional customer service and fostering community learning? The City of Karratha is seeking a dedicated Library Officer to join our vibrant library team.
As a Library Officer, you will play a key role in delivering quality library and information services across our City’s libraries, whilst being primarily based at Karratha Library. You’ll help create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages life-long learning, supports literacy, and connects people with knowledge and resources.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Providing friendly and helpful customer service in line with our Customer Service Charter
- Assisting in the daily operations of our libraries, including evenings and Saturdays
- Supporting library programs such as Story Time, school holiday activities, and special events
- Handling circulation tasks, shelving, stock maintenance, and library clerical duties
- Promoting digital literacy by assisting users with technology and online resources
- Participating in team meetings, training, and the continuous improvement of our library services
What We’re Looking For:
- A genuine passion for community service and lifelong learning
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team
- Proficiency in IT systems, including Library Management Systems and Microsoft Office
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and problem-solve effectively
- Previous library experience or qualifications in Library Services are desirable but not essential
What You’ll Need:
- Completion of Year 12 or equivalent
- Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
- National Police Clearance (less than 6 months old or willing to obtain)
- C Class driver’s licence
- First Aid Certificate (desirable)
