Port Hedland Primary School (PS) is in the Pilbara region and is located on the Port Hedland side of the Hedland area. We cater to students from Kindergarten to Year 6 within a friendly, supportive and welcoming environment.

Located attractively near the beach, Port Hedland PS is a school of choice in the Hedland area with an enrolment base of 490 students. Our families mainly encompass those employed in the mining industry and in professional positions in the region.

The Role

Port Hedland PS is seeking an organised, vibrant and friendly library officer with strong interpersonal skills to join their friendly team.

The successful applicant will provide general clerical and library support, including preparing correspondence and booking equipment and facilities. They will maintain the resources and environment of the school library including creating vibrant displays to encourage reading, promote school activities and support the learning outcomes of students. They will operate library systems which ensure library records are up-to-date and library resources are maintained and processed so they are accessible and available to students, staff, and parents at all times.

They will deal with enquiries and guide students, staff, and parents in locating library resources and information. Knowledge of how to run and manage a budget, including the purchasing of relevant stock and required licenses is highly regarded. Capacity to manage and resolve school IT projects and issues would also be highly regarded. Experience with the Oliver database, website management and Schools Catalogue Information Service (SCIS) accessioning whilst not essential would also be well regarded.

We highly value applicants who are team players with a ‘can do’ attitude and are able to work collaboratively with teachers, to upskill students in library research as well as instilling a love of literature and reading. We are seeking an individual that is keen to not only make our library a vibrant and welcoming space for students and parents but also someone that wants to be part our whole school community.
