Job Title: Operations Manager

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Accountable for the day-to-day operation of the Atlas Warehouse including supervision of the Storeman;
2. Collaborates with the Senior Sales Administrator on purchase orders received and their impact on inventory levels;
3. Reviews and manages inventory levels for Atlas customers and customer held stock for slurry pumps and spare parts, including managing emergency stock levels, stock re-order points. This review will result in fortnightly assessment of the requirement to order slurry pumps and spare pumps to maintain an effective customer service level with no or few stock-outs;
4. Manages all customer consignment stock arrangements where relevant;
5. Participates ion fortnightly sales and operations planning meeting (S&OP) – reviews demand from S&OP and forecasts inventory – assesses likelihood of inventory problems and variable demand issues. Provides recommendations on inventory optimisation;
6. Supervises the Atlas Service Centre activities and the Atlas Service Technician;
7. Coordinates Atlas logistics requirements including monitoring inbound containers from TIIEC China, customs and clearance activities and domestic transport requirements, including negotiating domestic logistics contracts when required;
8. Provides monthly inventory performance reports including stock turn, SLOB stock, stock-outs, aged stock;
9. Arranges and supervises six-monthly stock takes of all slurry pumps and spare parts at Atlas, or on consignment with customers. Arranges and supervises monthly selected item stock takes; and
10. Always complies with Atlas health and safety policies and requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
11. Trade diploma or certificate in warehouse management or operations management;
12. At least five years’ experience in operations with a mining equipment supplier;
13. Understands the impact of inventory management on the company profit and loss account;
14. Knowledge or ERP, and experience with tier one inventory management systems and forecasting and demand planning platforms;
15. Experience at leading and motivating an operations team;
16. Experience in a customer service environment and dealing with customer issues relating to inventory, logistics and service issues, preferably in a slurry pump environment;
17. Demonstrated experience at continuous improvement within the mining and resources sector;
18. Demonstrated analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
