Salary range:
$73,454.91 - $84,782.27 per annum (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience)
$76,393.10 - $88,173.56 from 1 July 2025.
Opportunity:
The People and Culture Team is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and solutions-focused team player to take up the role of a People and Culture Officer.
This dynamic role is integral to the employee experience at the City, acting as the first point of contact for all staff engaging with the People and Culture Team. You will work across a variety of HR functions and make a meaningful contribution to recruitment, onboarding, health and wellbeing initiatives, HR systems support, and internal communications.
Running end-to-end recruitments.
Onboarding new staff members.
Providing advice, information and support to staff across all areas of the organisation.
Supporting and administering the continuous improvement of internal systems and administrative processes.
Actively contribute creatively to internal communication initiatives, such as staff newsletters and engagement campaigns.
Provide high-quality administrative support to the People and Culture Team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, accurately, and with attention to detail.
About You: To be successful in this role, you will require at a minimum:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively across all levels of the organisation
Well-developed computer skills, including confidence with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new digital platforms (e.g., HRIS and Canva)
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to task completion
Proven ability to work with discretion and professionalism, maintaining confidentiality while providing respectful and empathetic support to staff
Basic knowledge of HR practices and principles, with a genuine interest in further developing your skills in this area
Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently when required

About City of Albany
Albany and its surrounds was home to the Menang Noongar people, the area was called Kinjarling which means "the place of rain". Archaeological excavations have found evidence of sites dating back over 18,000 years.
The first recorded sighting of the King George sound was in 1627. The following year the first map the south coast was produced which shows a bay and islands that is possibly King George sound. It was another 164 years before Commander George Vancouver on board Discovery sailed into the sound and named it for King George III.
