An opportunity is available for an experienced Payroll Officer to join a busy and collaborative Human Resources team within the Parliamentary Services Department . The small payroll team is responsible for delivering all aspects of the payroll processing services and responding to day-to-day queries.

About the Role:

The key responsibilities will be to provide end-to-end timely and accurate fortnightly payroll processing for approximately 350 staff and Members of Parliament using our Micropay Payroll software system. This includes timesheet processing; termination and long service calculations; submitting fortnightly STP reports to the ATO; superannuation payments and ad hoc reporting as required.

About You:

You will need to demonstrate a strong customer service focus, high attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively to provide an efficient payroll service.

Applicants must meet the following selection criteria:

Essential:

Completion of year 12

At least 3 years’ experience in payroll in a similar role

Basic understanding of accounting standards and practices including banking processes

Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets and Microsoft Word

Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus.

Excellent organisation and time management skills.

Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information and act with discretion.

Proven ability to understand and apply industrial instruments, legislation, policies and procedures.

Willingness to support and embrace PSD’s Values.

Highly Desirable:

Experience with Micropay.

Experience using a records management system.

Experience with ConnX (HRIS).
