Responsibilities
- Process fortnightly payroll for shared sector employees accurately and on time.
- Handle complex payroll queries with professionalism and efficiency.
- Perform data entry and process pay-related transactions, including system changes and pay files.
- Accurately input and manage master data, timesheet coding, and leave applications.
- Work towards daily processing targets while contributing to broader team goals.
- Communicate effectively with internal team members and external agency staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with relevant payroll procedures and standards.
Your Profile
We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Officers to support a large South Australian government department. This is a 2-month full-time contract with the possibility of extension.
To be successful in this role, candidates will ideally have:
- Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably in a high-volume or public sector environment
- Experience using payroll systems (Chris21 experience is highly desirable)
- Excellent data entry skills and a high level of accuracy
- Ability to manage tasks such as timesheet coding, leave processing, and employee data maintenance
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines
- Confidence in communicating with both internal teams and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and within a team
- A current National Police Clearance is mandatory
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced payroll team within the South Australian Government. The initial engagement is for 2 months, with a strong possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.
