Finance Manager

We are seeking a proactive and detail-driven Finance Manager to lead our internal finance function with clarity, accuracy, and operational insight. This critical leadership role will drive financial governance across accounts, payroll, reporting, and compliance, while actively supporting project profitability and cash flow oversight.

You will manage a small but capable Accounts Team, taking a hands-on approach to daily financial operations. You'll play a key role in monthly reporting, budgeting, and compliance (including BAS and payroll tax), and collaborate with external advisors where needed. This is a full-time, office-based role (8am – 5pm, no WFH), ideally suited for a qualified accountant who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced, and project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead, mentor, and work closely with the Accounts Team across AP, AR, payroll, and compliance

· Be hands-on in daily financial operations, providing support and guidance to the team

· Prepare and deliver monthly management reporting, cash flow forecasting, and budget analysis

· Monitor project-level profitability and ensure financial alignment with delivery targets

· Oversee end-to-end cash flow management and financial health of the business

· Coordinate equipment finance, bank reconciliations, and general ledger oversight

· Ensure accurate payroll processing, superannuation, and payroll tax compliance

· Manage BAS and PAYG compliance (in-house or via external BAS agent, as applicable)

· Review externally prepared General Purpose Financial Statements

· Ensure accounting integrity and real-time accuracy in Xero

Must-Haves:

· Strong experience with Xero accounting software

· Financial management experience in businesses with $20M+ turnover

· Sound understanding of Australian tax, payroll, and compliance requirements

· Proven ability to track and improve project profitability and cash flow

· Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a hands-on, team-first attitude

· Qualified Accountant

Desirable (Not Essential):

· CPA

· Experience in construction, infrastructure, or project-based industries

· Familiarity with job costing and project financial tracking tools
