This Federal Government agency is delivering one of the largest national social policy reforms in recent history. A new program launching mid-2025 will unify services for over a million Australians, consolidating multiple legacy systems under a single, modern framework.
The central analytics team drives the modelling and costings that underpin this reform, influencing how services are prioritised, funded, and delivered across the country.
The Opportunity
With the program launch approaching, the team is growing. There are three APS6 roles available, each contributing to high-impact analytics that will shape how billions of dollars in funding are allocated and monitored.
You’ll work on projects that combine policy, modelling, and pricing reform - translating analytical insights into decisions that affect real people.
This team is known for the quality of work they produce, the complexity of problems they solve and the calibre of the team members.
This is a standout opportunity for any analyst looking to influence a high profile large-scale reform in a fast-paced and purpose driven environment
The Role
You’ll support two core functions in the analytics team:
Pricing Policy
- Monitor provider pricing behaviour using large datasets
- Maintain and refine a pricing model developed in R
- Engage with external advisory bodies on pricing frameworks
- Support the introduction of price controls by 2026
Demand and Prioritisation Modelling
- Improve an R-based demand forecasting model
- Refine a prioritisation algorithm built in Excel for product and service allocations
- Provide inputs for Budget and MYEFO processes
- Advise policy teams on service targeting and funding allocation
In both areas, you’ll work closely with executives, policy teams, and external stakeholders - contributing to a reform that balances financial sustainability with equity of access.
The Ideal Person
You are a high performer with experience in modelling, costing or analysis with strong skills in R & Excel (due to there being multiple positions there may be an opportunity for an Excel only specialist). You are a strong communicator and have been involved in previous reforms or coming up with new ways to models policy and program outcomes.
You will enjoy this role if you:
- Can translate complex modelling into clear advice for decision-makers
- Bring initiative and creativity to refining tools and frameworks
- Are curious, critical, and comfortable working independently
You are likely an APS6 looking for a new challenge, an exceptional APS5 or a management consultant looking to move into the APS.
Australian citizenship and an existing Baseline is mandatory.
Salary / Rate
- These roles are being offered at the APS6 level via s26 transfers
- 13 month non-ongoing with a salary of $98k - $110k + 15.4% Super
