This small Federal Government agency is responsible for delivering large-scale investments in innovative programs that support Australia’s energy and emissions objectives.

With long-term funding secured, the team is investing in its data capability to support smarter, faster, and more strategic decision-making.

The Opportunity

The role sits within the Data and Performance Reporting team that is accountable for delivering the new data management strategy, performance monitoring, records management, and data analysis and reporting.

As part of a small team undergoing a strategic uplift, this role will help shape how data is used across the agency.

The team has some solid wins in their data journey so far with significant progress in automation and self-service analytics including data on cost, location, and technology types independently.

The team is shifting towards delivering strategic insights and data storytelling. They want to move beyond descriptive reporting to explain the “why” behind the data.

Examples of future questions include:

• Why are projects delayed?
• What are the risks across projects?
• Are there common bottlenecks or blockers?

The goal is a mature, insight-driven data capability that delivers real value to internal stakeholders.

There are currently 15–20 core dashboards, with plans to expand and improve visual storytelling across the organisation.

The Role

In this role you will support various internal teams (policy, program, corporate etc) scheduled and ad hoc reporting by working on 15–20 core dashboards with views to increase this number and transition to Tableau.

You will update and analyse data that you extract, clean and prepare data from grants, finance and project systems.

The Ideal Person

This role will suit either an existing APS6 (or equivalent) data analyst looking for a new long term contract or the chance to be part of Australia’s transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future or an up and coming APS5 equivalent looking for an impactful career development opportunity.

You’re experienced at building dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, or CRMA) with the interest to learn more technologies and improve how data is used.

You enjoy a friendly, team focussed environment with supportive leadership and a flexible approach to the split between office and home.
Australian Citizenship is mandatory.

Salary / Rate

This is a long-term contract ASAP start through to June 2026 with strong long-term extension or permanency potential.

The rate for this role is $60/hr - $70/hr + 11.5% Super.
