About the Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Manager, Communication and Stakeholder Engagement to join a high-profile infrastructure program supporting large scale infrastructure for NSW government. In this vital role, you will lead the planning and delivery of strategic and corporate communications that support effective community engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and alignment with government objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic communication and engagement plans that support project milestones and drive public understanding.
- Finalise key communication deliverables including the Communications and Engagement Plan, Property Acquisition Engagement Plan, Business Management and Activation Plan, and Aboriginal Engagement and Participation Plan.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with contractor Communications & Engagement teams and internal stakeholders.
- Develop pre-construction communication materials and oversee internal approvals.
- Prepare third-party engagement plans for negotiations with utility providers, major landowners, and local councils.
- Manage communications collateral including newsletters, stakeholder correspondence, website and intranet content, media releases, and reports.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with community and stakeholder reference groups and service providers.
- Identify and manage issues with potential public exposure or political sensitivity and provide appropriate responses.
Key Challenges:
- Effectively prioritising and resourcing communications across multiple high-stakes stakeholder groups.
- Navigating a politically sensitive environment with complex stakeholder relationships.
- Identifying and shaping compelling narratives that resonate with diverse communities.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior communications, stakeholder engagement, or public affairs role—ideally within infrastructure, transport or government sectors.
- Proven experience developing and executing end-to-end strategic communications plans.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with demonstrated success engaging community groups, councils, and government stakeholders.
- Ability to exercise discretion and manage politically sensitive and confidential information.
- Experience facilitating meetings and managing third-party and contractor relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical or complex information into community-friendly content.
Preferred:
- Experience working on infrastructure or public transport projects.
- Prior work within NSW Government or on large-scale public projects.
