Project Director – Major Works
12-month initial assignment - $900 per day + super – fully on site & office based.

The Project Director will lead and manage the project teams through project governance and formation to deliver the major capital works outcomes.
Key accountabilities:

• End to end management of multiple major works projects valued $20m - $90m from concept of design through to completion
• Managing internal and external resources including external project managers and senior project managers, and internal project officers/project leads.
• Plan and oversee the forward works project procurement including engaging consultants and contractors responsible for delivering individual projects
• Provide timely and accurate project reporting including cash flows, program milestones, various ad-hoc and critical ministerial reporting.
• Evaluate the progress and performance of designated Major Works (>$20m) projects using the existing program management tracking and monitoring systems, guidelines, policies and processes.
• Ensure the correct statutory planning approval path is identified and undertaken for individual projects and programs including consultation with local Councils and relevant consent authorities.
• Direct project delivery interfaces with service providers, design teams and building contractors while managing the project specified time, cost and quality framework while providing accurate and timely advice and recommendations on individual projects and programs.

Selection criteria:

• Relevant tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications in Construction, Engineering, Project Management or related fields.
• • 10+ years’ relevant project planning and delivery experience, preferably gained in a large, complex and decentralised work environment.
• Strong leadership of small teams and has demonstrated experience to achieve outcomes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Willingness to work on site (either office based, or construction site based) full time – no WFH component to this role
• Strong experience in construction projects
• GC 21 knowledge
