Position: Technical Lead
Location: Canberra, ACT (On-site 3 days p/week)
Estimated Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Approx. 12 months with potential to extend
Hourly Rate: $140 $160 plus 11%% superannuation
Security Clearance: Must hold or be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline equivalent security clearance
JOB OVERVIEW: Our high profile Government client is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join their digital division to play a key leadership role in a major whole-of-government ICT transformation initiative. You'll be working in a multidisciplinary team environment, supporting the HR upgrade project as part of the wider Payroll Capability-Human Resource Management program.
DUTIES:
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional technical team to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with project goals.
- Design and document IT architecture and solution options.
- Oversee and manage development environments and platforms.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, engineers, and vendors to ensure timely and effective delivery.
- Develop and review backend code and scripts using Microsoft technologies and integration platforms.
- Evaluate vendor deliverables and internal project activities to ensure alignment with business requirements.
- Maintain project documentation, manage technical risks, and provide regular status reporting.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEMandatory:
- Proven experience in architectural and solution design, particularly in remediating legacy systems and delivering solutions using Microsoft technologies (.NET, MS-SQL, Windows Server, etc).
- Strong technical leadership skills with demonstrated experience in managing platform development, deployment, and maintenance.
- Experience in Microsoft development (VB.Net, C#, ASP.Net, JavaScript).
- Working knowledge of Azure DevOps (source control and pipelines).
- Demonstrated vendor management and stakeholder engagement experience.
Desirable:
- Experience with Linux/Unix systems (especially Solaris).
- Familiarity with integration platforms like MuleSoft.
- Power BI and business intelligence reporting experience.
- Proficiency with reporting tools such as SSRS.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
