What you'll do

  • Manage receipt and assessment of complex and sensitive complaints and information from employees and stakeholders to ascertain whether it amounts to suspected corrupt conduct or a public interest disclosure.
  • Provide authoritative advice and support to senior Department of Health officers on the assessment and management of complex and sensitive complaints, public interest disclosures and associated enquiries.
  • Manage reporting, research and development activities to identify systemic risks, capability shortfalls and staff education strategies.
  • Assist in managing the development and delivery of complaint and public interest disclosure management capability building activities, including delivering education and awareness programs to employees, managers and senior executives.
  • Conduct high level, complex and sensitive investigations of suspected corrupt conduct, which may include investigations into the commercial activities of the department and/or public interest disclosures.
  • Research and prepare correspondence, briefing papers, reports and recommendations on complex and sensitive complaints, enquiries, trends, training needs and associated issues.

About you

We are searching for someone with:

  • Demonstrated expertise in complaint and public interest disclosure management processes and ethical and professional practice standards, with the ability to operate effectively in a sensitive and complex work environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the interpretation, application and provision of advice on the application of legislation, regulation, policies and procedures as they relate to assessment, management and investigation of complaints of suspected corrupt conduct and public interest disclosures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, liaison and communication skills, including the capacity and ability to influence, negotiate or communicate on behalf of the agency with senior internal and external stakeholders, and to develop and deliver presentations and training.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including ability to prepare documents and briefing notes for the Minister or senior officers on strategic policy, complex and sensitive issues.
  • Personal integrity, a high degree of self-awareness and the ability to empower others
