The Role – Make Your Mark

We’re looking for a hands-on General Manager to take the reins and bring uncompromising discipline, delivery, and leadership across the business. You’ll bring strong commercial acumen, a calm and decisive presence, and an unshakable focus on progress.

In the first 90 days you will;

Oversee all leads, along with upcoming and active projects

Strengthen scheduling, progress, and cashflow visibility

Lead weekly team meetings and instill delivery discipline

Align site and back-office teams to clear priorities

Guide PMs and support teams with clarity and accountability

Act as the point of connection for clients, consultants, and subcontractors

You’ll report to the directors—but you’ll run the show.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on providing structure, leads from the front, and knows how to turn strong projects into strong performance.

Ongoing Responsibilities

As General Manager, you’ll be responsible for scaling delivery excellence while setting the tone for long-term growth. You will:

Lead, inspire, and align cross-functional teams across production, sales, and support

Drive sustainable growth through strategic planning, performance benchmarking, and margin control

Own early-stage client development and ensure projects are set up for success from day one

Forecast and manage talent and capital needs ahead of demand

Build trusted relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners

Oversee contract and issue resolution with a commercially sound, calm approach

Champion change management, systems thinking, and a culture of continuous improvement

Identify risks early and implement practical, strategic responses

Collaborate with directors on company-wide priorities including revenue targets, hiring, and brand development

Represent Blackwood with integrity, clarity, and operational confidence

What You’ll Bring

Ideally from a construction, development, or complex delivery background — but above all, a fast learner with strong operational discipline you will bring to the table;

Proven experience leading & fortifying business operations and driving growth

Obsessive focus on progress, cashflow, schedules, and financial controls

Ability to quickly assess, pivot and execute in response to challenges

Calmness under pressure, decisiveness, and solutions-driven approach

Able to lead by example, with clarity and total accountability

Alignment with Blackwood’s values and a passion for building quality with integrity
