The Role
As Project Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of key initiatives to achieve project objectives, while also supporting the day-to-day management of our Land Development Project.

This Project Manager role is for a major strategic project aimed at creating a sustainable community in northern Melbourne, delivering long-term economic, social, and environmental benefits to the region.

In this role, you will be responsible for engaging and building relationships with senior stakeholders, including Government Departments, and local councils. An understanding of the stakeholder environment and the ability to navigate complex government and community dynamics, particularly in the context of land development, is essential. You will be expected to confidently influence and negotiate with stakeholders across the public and private sectors and within the organisation.

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage the development of key project initiatives to meet the objectives and targets of the Project.
  • Support the commercial analysis of the project initiatives
  • Provide ongoing support to team members, consultants and external service providers in delivering the Project
  • Contribute to thinking in relation to the opportunities applicable to the project relating to Yarra Valley Water core business (water and sanitation).
  • Assist in the preparation of project reporting to Management, and the Board.
  • Implement project governance arrangements including probity requirements.
  • Work with key stakeholders, including Development Victoria and Mitchell Shire Council, in the development of the project initiatives.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of stakeholder engagement plans (internal and external focused).
  • Initiate, develop and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders in line with the stakeholder engagement plan to assist with delivering the project vision, objectives and initiatives.
  • Management of initiative finances and project procurement activities in accordance with Yarra Valley Waters requirements.

What we're looking for

  • A qualification in town planning, project management, engineering or a related field - desirable
  • Experience in large-scale, strategic projects. Land development expertise will be highly valued
  • Proven ability to build trust and foster long-term relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, from government bodies and regulators to community groups and internal teams
  • Comfortable managing large-scale programs, including end-to-end budget planning, forecasting, and financial accountability.
  • Keen eye for detail and structured approach ensures projects run smoothly, milestones are met, and nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Whether it's reporting to executives, liaising with stakeholders, or drafting key documentation, your communication is clear, concise, and impactful.
  • Excel at articulating a compelling vision for a project and aligning your team and stakeholders with shared goals and outcomes.
  • You think beyond conventional solutions, consistently bringing fresh ideas and innovative approaches to overcome challenges and drive results.
  • Experience in managing budget and project procurement activities
