About Role

The SSI Local Area Coordination (LAC) program partners with the National Disability Insurance agency and is committed to improving the lives of all people with disability aged nine and above (including their families and carers where appropriate) in empowering people to facilitate choice and control over their lives.

About You

The Disability Strategy and Transformation Manager is a pivotal leadership role within the SSI LAC Program. This position, reporting to the Head of Disability requires a dynamic individual with deep subject matter expertise, a strong background in strategic planning, policy and advocacy exposure, grant preparation, business growth and stakeholder engagement in the disability sector. The position will work closely with all LAC senior leaders, and lead the Community Development Specialists, responsible for driving strategic initiatives, leading the CCB, fostering stakeholder relationships, and influencing policy and reform to enhance the divisions impact and whilst preparing ensuring future growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of business plans and strategic program direction including the Community Capacity building plan to advance the program’s mission, objectives and impact
  • Demonstrate a deep level of subject matter expertise in identifying opportunities and make recommendations for business growth and innovation for SSI within the disability sector.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including NDIS participants, families, community organisations, government agencies, and other relevant entities whilst driving the stakeholder engagement plan across the program.
  • Collaborate with relevant SSI stakeholders in monitoring and analysing policy developments and regulatory changes affecting the disability sector and the SSI LAC Program.
  • Prepare and present regular reports and briefings on strategic initiatives and stakeholder engagement to the senior leadership team.
  • Inform future direction, change planning and growth strategies for SSI in disability aligning to scheme reform.
  • Practical knowledge around the NDIS business system and landscape to inform program approaches and strategy.

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Public Policy, Social Work) or equivalent experience in the Disability sector.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership in a Community/ Human Services Environment
  • High-level written communication and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing, developing, and implementing strategic plans in the disability sector.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships and liaise across all levels, both internally, externally and with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership, project management and program management skills.
  • Experience developing and leading business planning initiatives.
  • Ability to assess and manage risk, problem solve and be able to negotiate successful outcomes under challenging circumstances.
  • Willingness to travel across all program areas as required.
