Our client is Australia’s largest and leading local manufacturer and distributor of agricultural crop protection products and solutions. This includes research and development, formulation optimisation, compliance, distribution, and quality.
With contract manufacturing being one of their main focuses, they have production facilities located around Australia in key growing regions. The client offers a wide range of crop protection formulations and chemistries.
ROLE
Exciting Career Opportunity!
This permanent full-time role is responsible for managing two manufacturing sites located north and south of Brisbane. Reporting directly to the National Manufacturing Manager, you will lead a team of 5-10 direct reports across production, engineering, and warehouse functions, along with 50-150 indirect reports, including fluctuating seasonal labour hires.
The primary focus of this role is to ensure the efficient and safe operation of both sites. You will play a critical role in meeting customer requirements by maximising the utilisation of plant, workforce, and facilities to deliver operational excellence.
Some responsibilities associated with this role include:
Ensure all production target volumes and throughputs are met to deliver the production schedule
Manage and execute CAPEX projects to support strategic objectives, including upgrades, new installations, and operational improvements, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget
Cost processes for production activities in support of new product introduction
Compile site data for monthly reports and provide analysis of results and forecasting future workload trends
Drive, implement and oversee LEAN, cost down initiatives and continuous improvement projects
Deliver site costs within budget through tracking and developing effective reporting mechanisms
Foster a high-performance culture through effective leadership, workforce planning, and structured training programs, ensuring teams are skilled, engaged, and aligned with production goals
Review site results to ensure the site management team is taking steps to determine the root causes of variations and establishing effective corrective and preventative actions
Review and manage overall health and safety performance of the Site to provide a safe and sustainable workplace
Deliver site quality system objectives & ensure products are made as per production procedures and meet specifications
Ensure quality incidents are reported/recorded and investigated on time
Build the leadership and management capability of Managers, Supervisors and Team Leaders
Manage the performance of direct reports and participate in succession planning activities to de-risk the business
REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in your application, you must meet the following criteria:
Appropriate tertiary qualification or higher in Science, Engineering and/or Business
Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience, ideally in a hazardous chemicals environment
Experience in managing site budgets and financial performance, including cost control, labour efficiency, and capital expenditure planning
Strong track record in site operations management, including production, quality, safety, HR, and logistics
Highly developed leadership and management skills that demonstrate a commitment to coaching and developing staff
Good communication skills with the ability to interact positively with all levels of the workforce, operational staff and management
You will be results oriented, taking the initiative to make things happen, with a commitment to meeting targets and deadlines
Strong analytical capability with a demonstrated ability to manage budgets, complex workloads and set priorities
Strong reporting skills both written & oral with a high level attention to detail
Knowledge of Dangerous Goods Storage, handling & transport regulations as well as a sound understanding of government environmental regulations
Proficiency in MS Office
Highly Regarded:
Experience within a Major Hazard Facility and with dangerous goods
WHS management in a complex environment
