The Opportunity
The Procurement Coordinator leads the coordination and continuous improvement of Council’s procurement and contract management systems, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice. In this role, you will develop cost-effective procurement strategies, support staff across the organisation with training and advice, and maintain procurement documentation. As the Procurement Coordinator, you’ll also manage tender processes, contractor performance reviews, and maintenance service contracts, ensuring transparency and probity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and continuously improve Council’s procurement and contract management systems, maintaining accurate documentation and website content.
- Develop cost-effective procurement strategies, minimise purchasing risks, and ensure compliance with best practice and statutory requirements.
- Provide training, advice, and support to staff on procurement and contract administration.
- Oversee tendering processes, maintenance service contracts, contractor reviews, and payment administration, ensuring probity and confidentiality throughout.
This is a full-time, ongoing position, based in Bairnsdale.
What we’re looking for:
- Relevant qualifications or extensive experience in procurement with strong understanding of tendering process and contract administration, ideally within a Local Government environment
- Strong collaboration skills, promoting team work and information sharing across the organisation
- Ability to think critically, with excellent problem solving skills.
- A clear communicator with the ability to engender trust, especially while communicating sensitive issues.
- Strong team management skills to ensure staff are effective and productive while supporting their professional development.
If successful, you will need to undertake a police check and psychometric testing. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
