The Opportunity
As the Governance and Risk Coordinator, you will lead the Governance and Risk team to promote and uphold good governance practices across the organisation. You will play a key role in developing, managing, and maintaining effective legislative, policy, and compliance frameworks, as well as overseeing Council’s fraud and corruption prevention and control initiatives.
You’ll mentor and develop your team providing guidance on best practice, while also providing advice and support to the wider organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the implementation of good governance principles and processes to support Council’s effective decision making.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for the Risk Management Framework, including the development and implementation of risk management strategies and business continuity plans.
- Provide proactive advice on emerging legislative and statutory issues to ensure Council compliance.
- Manage and maintain the Council’s fraud and corruption control framework, including support for fraud and corruption prevention.
This is a full-time, ongoing position. Your main office will be in Lakes Entrance, with the expectation that you also work from Bairnsdale as required.
What we’re looking for:
- Relevant qualifications and/or extensive experience with strong knowledge of compliance, risk, and legislation.
- A strong communicator with the ability to convey ideas clearly and adapting style to suit the audience.
- A confident leader who sets expectations, gives feedback, and supports team engagement.
- A collaborator who promotes teamwork and shares knowledge to achieve shared goals.
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills, taking into account business context. Able to critically evaluate problems and deliver effective solutions.
If successful, you will need to undertake a police check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
