The Role

Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) is seeking a highly motivated APS6 Business Support Officer to provide business support for the new National Support Division Headquarters. If you enjoy a challenge and want to contribute to the future of Defence, we want to hear from you.

This provides an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to contribute to the development of the new Division Headquarters. You will undertake activities to deliver timely support and business outcomes for National Support senior leadership.

The main duties of the Business Support role will include:

  • Business Policies, Procedures and Governance Support. Support the implementation of internal governance policies and procedures and assist in managing returns for Governance and risk related requests. Assist with administrative tasks and provide administrative support to our ADF reserve members.
  • Security Management. Perform the Assistant Unit Security Officer function, supported by the Unit Security Officer. This includes management of the security register, security incident reporting and Overseas travel briefings.
  • Information Management. Contribute to adherence with records management procedures, assist with the upkeep of the Divisional Objective structures and management of permissions for Divisional staff.

National Support teams will work collaboratively to enable Defence to plan, organise and draw upon whole-of government and whole-of-nation capabilities to improve Defence and the nation’s resilience. Led by Head National Support, NSD staff will work within Defence to contribute to NSD and Defence wide outcomes.

National Support Division has an integrated workforce comprised of both APS and ADF staff. We work together in a dynamic environment towards the goal of ensuring national preparedness.

We are a small and supportive team of professionals who work closely to achieve outcomes. Our team comes from across Defence, with diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute advice and expertise at the foundational level for the NSD. NSD officers can expect to engage under direction across Defence and as required across Whole of Government and industry.

An ideal National Support Division Business Support Officer will need the ability to work collaboratively, providing advice and support within a team, and developing and maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders.

To be successful in a National Support role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Experience in a business support role in Government
  • High-level organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve tasks and business objectives
  • The interpersonal skills to foster and promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture that aligns with Defence values.
