Jenner & Co Logistics & Supply Chain Recruitment is partnering with one of its repeat clients, to source their next General Manager Business Development Transport here in Sydney.

To be considered for this role our client, are looking for someone with a DOMESTIC TRANSPORT/ROAD FREIGHT BACKGROUND.

The purpose of the role is to:

· Develop and implement growth and retentions strategy for defined market segments across Australia;

· Establish target customer pipeline – Leads/Prospects to expand market share in targeted segments, support the growth & retentions plan and margin through adopting service strategies that command price premiums;

· Win and convert new customer contracts to meet the annual growth and margin targets in accordance with the growth strategy and plan;

· Own and improve the customer onboarding, transition and post transition management framework;

· Develop trusted relationships with portfolio of major clients including new customers through transition phase to ensure that their operational and service needs are met while maintaining and retaining the key customer accounts through the contractual period;

· Provide strategic leadership in leveraging the scale, scope and expertise of the company to grow and expand the service offering to existing and new customers;

· Develop, launch and maintain key customer account relationship management framework to ensure correct products and services are delivered to customers in a timely manner and customer requirements are met and exceeded at all levels;

· Serve as the link of communication between key customers and internal teams and resolve any issues and problems faced by customers and deal with complaints to maintain trust;

· Prepare regular reports of progress and forecasts to internal and external stakeholders using key account metrics;

· Develop, grow and maintain industry wide network and relationships targeted industry forums to enhance the target customer base to market the company’s service offering;

· Research, monitor market trends and seek potential customer feedback to develop solutions and launch new products and services to drive profitability;

· Use excellent judgement and highly developed analytical skills to deliver high quality decisions; and

Develop and maintain good relationships with all key stakeholders and internal staff.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

· Knowledge of Australian road transport customer requirements, market trends, market structure and value proposition that wins the customer mind

· Network of industry relationships that open doors to pitch the company’s business solutions across wider customer/industry base

· Prior experience in customer support and business development role in a similar setting

· Exercising sound judgement to make consistent and robust decisions

· Demonstrated customer service focus, including the ability to recognise and implement business improvement opportunities

· Experience in working with multi-faceted customer and supplier environment to carry out day to day service delivery responsibilities

· Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles of road transport service delivery.

· Outgoing personality with integrity to win customer confidence

· Confident communicator with skill to present simple solution to complex customer problem

· Leadership skills to train and develop staff and peers

· Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate with multiple customer operations staff with varying degree of communication capabilities to meet the customer service demands on timely manner

· Excellent self-management skills, including working effectively without direct supervision, managing and organising fluctuating workloads in sometimes stressful situations

· Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines in line with good customer service principles

· Sound analytical skills

· Ability to work well within a team environment and establish working relationships inside and outside the organisation
