We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Youth Project Officer to lead the drop-in service at Altone Youth Centre, supporting young people aged 11–25. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team and shape a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging space for young local people.
Key Responsibilities
Drop-in Program Leadership
Lead Youth Worker for Drop-in service (2:30–5:00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
Plan and facilitate meaningful and engaging term-based activities (e.g. cooking, art, life skills) aligned with program goals and funding outcomes
Build strong, trusting relationships with young people through active and targeted engagement
Supervise participants and manage group dynamics to maintain a safe and inclusive environment
Set up and pack down the drop-in space each day
Lead a small team of youth workers, providing support and debriefs before, during, and after sessions
Design and deliver targeted drop-in sessions for the 18–25 age group, including support with advocacy, resume building, life skills and housing support
Program & Project Development
Plan, develop and deliver fun, relevant, and community-minded programs to engage young people
Coordinate and run school holiday programs in line with young people’s interests and community needs
About You – Selection Criteria
Qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, or a related field
Strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by young people accessing the drop-in service
Skilled in group facilitation, mentoring and program delivery, with the ability to develop a wide range of youth-focused activities
Proven leadership skills and ability to support and supervise a small team
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to maintain clear and accurate records
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders and service providers

The base rate for this position is dependent on qualifications and experience, with additional generous salary packaging benefits (up to $15,900 for general living expenses and an additional $2,650 for entertainment benefits per annum).
