Kin also works with other agencies to raise awareness of issues impacting on people with disability from ELD and Aboriginal backgrounds.
Our Vision: Australians who live with disability, cultural and language barriers know and exercise their rights which gives them the independence, control, and freedom to enjoy a fuller life, no matter who they are.
Our Purpose: We advocate for Australians with layered disadvantages — those with disability, cultural and language barriers — to have equal opportunity for a better life.
Our Values: Courage, Diversity, Expertise, Collaboration, Empowerment, Steadfastness
About the role
The primary objective of the Regional Project Officer for the Ambassador Project is to assist in the delivery of the Kin Ambassador Project in the Kimberley Region.
The Kin Ambassador Project seeks to empower individuals with lived experience of disability from ethnocultural and linguistically diverse (ELD) or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds to become disability ambassadors within their communities. Through training, mentoring, and peer support, ambassadors will strengthen their expertise and confidence in disability information advocacy. As trusted community members, they will use this expertise to support individuals in their community facing cultural or language differences, helping them access services, understand their rights, and navigate available resources.
The Project Officer will be assisting in the delivery of the project, assisting with the recruitment of new ambassadors, mentoring and support for ambassadors and assisting ambassadors in community engagement activities in the Kimberley Region.
The Regional Project Officer will deliver the project based out of Kin’s Broome office, working in collaboration with the Project Coordinator who is based out of Kin’s Osborne Park (Perth) Office, and a Regional Project Officer based in Peel.
About our ideal candidate:

They will have skills in community and stakeholder engagement, alongside cross-cultural communication skills – in particular comfort and experience working with people from ELD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
We are looking for someone with the capacity to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a small nimble team.
