Trans Tasman Fisheries is based at the Sydney Fish Market, a central hub of Australia’s seafood industry. With a consistent supply of premium seafood sourced from its own fleet and strong partnerships with fishermen and aquaculture producers across Australia and New Zealand, Trans Tasman Fisheries is known as a trusted supplier of high-quality fresh and frozen seafood.
We are currently seeking a Primary Products Inspector to join our team full-time at our Pyrmont location. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a strong background in seafood quality assurance, compliance, and handling procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct quality inspections of fresh and frozen seafood to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
Oversee hygiene, handling, storage, and transport processes across the facility to maintain product integrity
Collect and test seafood samples to verify quality, grading, and freshness
Monitor and document compliance with biosecurity, food safety, and industry regulations
Support the development and refinement of quality control protocols and inspection documentation
Advise on handling and processing best practices to support product consistency and market standards
Collaborate with suppliers and operations staff to identify and resolve any product quality or compliance concerns
Assist in training staff on food safety and quality assurance procedures
Participate in regulatory inspections and liaise with authorities when required
What We Offer:
Salary: $85,000 – $90,000 per annum plus superannuation
Full-time position (38 hours per week)

Requirements:
AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or
A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience in the absence of formal qualifications
Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, and biosecurity standards
Prior experience in quality inspection, preferably within the seafood or primary produce sector
Excellent attention to detail and reporting skills
