The Impact You'll Make
They're trusted and called upon by major Mechanical Contracting firms - which, to date, has been their primary source of new business opportunities. As Business Development Manager, you'll spearhead a strategic shift in our client's growth approach - lessening their reliance on the mechanical contractor channel by establishing direct relationships with key facilities managers, property groups and building owners.
Working alongside their GM and Engineering / Estimation team (for technical support), you'll identify and pursue opportunities across all of their service offerings; with deal values typically ranging from $100K to $500K+ over 3-6 month sales cycles - delivering $1M+ in annual project revenues.
Targeting both large CBD-based buildings and multi-site opportunities with smaller buildings across numerous locations, you'll build a diverse project pipeline that delivers consistent revenue throughout the year.
As their sole BDM, you'll operate autonomously and take full ownership of pipeline generation / sales from Facilities Managers, Building Owners and Property Groups - including implementing a sales reporting structure that provides real-time visibility on your progress.
Based in Sydney, working flexibly from either their Wynyard or Helensburgh offices, you'll focus primarily on the NSW market - though the opportunity is there for National expansion. This role offers significant opportunity to shape the company's sales processes and to build / manage a team, in time, with success.
About You
To be considered for this position, you'll bring:
3+ years' experience selling into major, NSW-based facilities managers, building owners and property groups with a history of sales achievement.
A background in BMS or Commercial HVAC solutions is advantageous (i.e. you know how air and heat is transferred in/out of a building) - though, as technical support will be provided, anyone who's sold into or is deeply familiar with the NSW-based Facilities Management / Commercial Property market is encouraged to apply (e.g. glass, elevators, cleaning services, security, fit-out, engineering services, etc).
Intangibly, you're a self-motivated professional who operates with minimal supervision while providing transparent updates on activities and progress - striking the right balance between autonomy and collaboration.
Your approach to sales is consultative and relationship-focused, with the patience to nurture contacts over time while remaining alert to immediate opportunities that may arise through these relationships.
Most importantly, you'll bring a genuine interest in learning about Building Management Systems, with the intellectual curiosity to gradually increase your technical understanding while leveraging the expertise of the team.
