Position Overview
The Site Coordinator plays a pivotal leadership role at Carestays Thornbury, one of Melbourne’s largest and most active Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Short-Term Accommodation (STA) facilities.
This position is responsible for overseeing the smooth daily operation of the site, managing staff across shifts, maintaining strict adherence to care standards, and ensuring that participants receive high-quality, person-centred support in a structured and compliant environment.
The ideal candidate is highly organised, disciplined, and calm under pressure, with a strong commitment to maintaining accountability, documentation, and team performance. This role is well-suited to someone seeking continued growth within the disability and NDIS care sector.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily site operations, ensuring service delivery aligns with policies and care plans
Lead and supervise staff across morning and afternoon shifts (7am–2pm & 2pm–9pm)
Maintain strict adherence to participant routines and site procedures
Facilitate detailed handovers between shifts with clear briefings and written updates
Respond appropriately to incidents, medication errors, and behavioural escalations
Conduct and document daily audits (room checks, kitchen hygiene, safety, cleanliness)
Ensure all documentation (progress notes, medication logs, handover reports, compliance registers) is completed to a high standard
Mentor and support frontline staff, addressing any issues related to performance or conduct
Serve as the lead point of contact for operational issues during shifts
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including families, guardians, and allied health providers
Key Selection Criteria
Essential
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a site leadership or senior support role within SIL, aged care, mental health, or NDIS
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and maintain structure in a care environment
Highly methodical and organised, particularly in documentation and auditing
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Working knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards, incident management, and duty of care
Skilled in de-escalating behavioural incidents and managing crisis situations
Excellent time management and ability to coordinate multiple moving parts
Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends
Desirable
Certificate IV or Diploma in Disability, Community Services, or related field
Experience with documentation related to medication and incident reporting
Familiarity with care management platforms such as SupportAbility, CareMaster, or ShiftCare
