About the opportunity:

Seeking Infrastructure Engineers to work within a branch responsible for the Departmental’ s ICT infrastructure, platforms, networks and data centres.

You will meet security hardening measures and address the requirement to transition multiple business systems and infrastructure capabilities off their legacy platforms.

Key duties:

• Provide technical expertise to projects and business areas and leads the technical deliverables.
• Maintain, monitor and upgrade the Virtual Service Environment (VSE) environments and servers in accordance to the vendor’s recommendations, and ensuring fit for purpose.
• Plan, design, develop, test and maintain new or existing virtual service developments in accordance with guidelines and in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Configure and deploy virtual services and servers in accordance with the applications operational model governed by application owners.
• Define and lead the analysis, plan, execute, deliver and performance improvement activities.
• Promote the adoption of virtual services through walkthroughs/demos to ICT stakeholders and project teams.
• Provide support and guidance to project teams for maintaining their own virtual service environments.
• Provide technical expertise to projects and business areas and leading the technical deliverables.
• Undertake a range of activities in support of the management and operation of the Department's secure storage, backup and data protection capabilities.
• Enhancement and remediation activities across storage, backup and data protection systems.
• Responsible for producing the following deliverables: Business Specifications, Functional Specifications, As built documentation, SOP’s, Deployment guides and Technical Specifications.

Technical skills:

Experience in any of the following technologies would be advantageous:· Dell Powerscale · Dell ECS · Dell Unity · Dell Powermax · Avamar · Networker · PPDM · Data Domain · VMware vSAN · VMware virtualisation on HCI.

You will have demonstrated the following experience:

• Maintaining, monitoring, upgrading, and configuring VSE environments and related servers.
• Ability to develop, test, and deploy virtual services aligned to operational models and vendor recommendations.
• Familiarity with service virtualisation tools (e.g., CA Service Virtualization or similar).
• VMware virtualisation technologies, particularly on HCI (Hyper-Converged Infrastructure) platforms like: VMware vSAN or VMware virtualisation on HCI.
• Managing and enhancing enterprise storage systems, ideally with: Dell PowerScale, Dell ECS, Dell Unity, Dell PowerMax.
• Expertise in backup tools and secure storage solutions, such as: Avamar, Networker, PowerProtect Data Manager, Data Domain.
• Defining, analysing, planning, executing, and delivering performance improvement activities across systems.
• Ability to produce and maintain high-quality documentation including: Business Specifications, Functional Specification, “As-built” documentation, SOPs, Deployment Guides and Technical Specifications.
• Leading technical deliverables and collaborating with project teams and business stakeholders.
• Ability to conduct walkthroughs and demonstrations of virtual services to promote adoption.
• Provide training, support, and guidance to project teams managing their own VSE environments.
• Ability to work across a range of activities from detailed technical configuration analysis to supporting high level solution design and also provide level 2 and 3 resolver support.

Desirable Knowledge & Soft Skills

• Strong planning and coordination skills for cross-functional technical projects.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to identify system inefficiencies and implement practical improvements.
• Certifications in VMware, Dell EMC, ITIL etc.
• Relevant certifications in backup/data protection platforms (e.g., Avamar, Networker)
