Senior Commvault & NetApp Infrastructure Engineer – Federal Government Contract

Local Workforce Hire is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer with deep expertise in Commvault and NetApp technologies to support a high-profile Federal Government agency – the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA).

This position is open to all residents in all locations, and you do not have to work in Canberra.

This long-term contract offers flexibility to work remotely from any Australian state or territory, while supporting the Canberra-based infrastructure environment.

Contract Details

• Start Date: Monday, 2 June 2025
• Location: Remote (anywhere in Australia)
• Duration: 12 months + possible 12-month extension
• Hours: 37.5 per week
• Clearance: Must be able to obtain NV1 Security Clearance

The Opportunity
As a key member of AFSA’s Infrastructure Services Division, you will:

• Deploy, maintain, and improve NetApp storage systems both on-premise and in cloud environments.
• Manage Commvault backup systems (on-prem, Azure, and Commvault cloud).
• Lead storage lifecycle management, data recovery strategies, and ensure RPO/RTO compliance.
• Monitor system health, implement improvements, and reduce risk through proactive problem-solving.
• Collaborate with technical teams and vendors to resolve incidents and design enterprise solutions.

About You
We're looking for an experienced infrastructure expert with:

• 5+ years’ experience as a Senior Storage Engineer or Administrator
• Expert-level understanding of NetApp and Commvault backup and cloud technologies
• Strong experience with iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS protocols
• Ability to manage full storage and backup lifecycle from deployment to decommission
• Australian Citizenship (mandatory for NV1 clearance eligibility)
• Certifications in NetApp or Commvault (highly regarded)
• Strong documentation, collaboration, and communication skills

Desirable Skills

• Experience with Microsoft and Commvault cloud storage solutions
• Scripting proficiency for performance monitoring and reporting
• Knowledge of Linux and/or Windows Server environments
• Familiarity with virtualised platforms (e.g., VMware)
