Current UNE Staff: In taking up this appointment, please be aware your current fixed term or permanent role will cease the day prior to you taking this position
This appointment is offered on a replacement basis to carry out work whilst the incumbent is on parental. The incumbent has the right to return to their substantive position. Should this occur prior to the anticipated end of the secondment, your appointment will be terminated with 4 weeks’ notice.
$ 107,370 to $ 124,606 per annum (HEO8)
Plus 17% employer superannuation
Salary packaging options are available
20 days family and domestic violence leave available per annum
10 days Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural and ceremonial leave per annum
(Professional Staff) 5 weeks annual leave plus Christmas week shutdown, per annum
Flexible or hybrid work arrangements available

About the role
The Career Development Specialist is a senior position within the UNE career service and will be pivotal in shaping the university's career development education activities and employability programs. This senior position requires advanced expertise in career development theory and its practical application through the strategic design, delivery, and evaluation of career teaching and counselling services. The role demands a comprehensive, student-centric approach that addresses the diverse needs of the UNE student population, focusing on enhancing their career readiness and long-term professional success.
As the Career Development Specialist, you will leverage your substantial experience in career education to provide direction, develop innovative programs, and contribute to the university's broader goals of fostering student employability. Your ability to solve complex problems, take initiative, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive impactful outcomes for UNE and its students will be crucial in this role.

This position is a parental leave replacement, and the appointment is subject to the staff member’s leave arrangements. Should the staff member on parental leave vary their return to work arrangements, this contract may be terminated earlier by giving four weeks’ notice.
Current UNE Staff: In taking up this appointment, the appointee will need to seek approval from the Head of Cost Centre to be released from their substantive position for the duration of the secondment.
