About the role:
We are looking for a reliable, friendly and respectful medical receptionist who can show initiative and be able to work independently. This individual must have exceptional organisational and communication skills and be able to display superb customer service. Secure IT skills are essential and prior experience with Best Practice software would be favourably considered.
Key duties/responsibilities:
Answering and dealing with all incoming phone calls.
Banking – balancing daily takings and banking money.
Respond to requests for patient appointments with GPs at the practice.
Raise accounts following GP consultations.
Maintain up to date knowledge of correct billing procedures.
Attend to and act upon queries regarding accounts.
Assist in the efficient management of the practice waiting area.
Maintain medical files and office records.
Typing and word processing.
Receipting and banking of all incoming payments.
Generating GP and practice activity reports as directed.
Scanning and photocopying patient histories, documents and files as required.
Assisting with statistical data collection as directed.
Communicate effectively with doctors and practice staff.
Liaise with external suppliers such as pathology, radiology, specialist and health service providers as required.
Monitor stationery/kitchen supplies and advise Practice Manager of ordering needs.
Ensure all areas are appropriately prepared and maintained.
Maintain security of the premises.
Meet KPI’s as required.
Other administrative duties as directed.
Other administration/reception tasks as required.
Other responsibilities:
To promote and practice OH&S, Risk Management and Infection Control policies & procedures.
Be familiar with all emergency and evacuation procedures.
Promote and maintain continuous improvement in work practices.
Always respect and maintain client confidentiality.
Participate in attendance at staff meetings and compulsory training as appropriate.
Undergo a police check as required.
Undergo a performance appraisal after three months of employment and 6 to 12 months thereafter.
Participate in ongoing education.
Other duties as directed by the Practice Manager.
