Expansion to Regional and Rural Victoria
Join the Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS) team as we expand our services across Regional and Rural Victoria, establishing a site in Bendigo to support the Loddon Mallee region. CFMHS is a specialist state-wide agency that works with individuals who have a serious mental health illness and have offended or are at risk of offending.
This newly created position provides an exciting opportunity to be part of a new service, reflective of the expanding growth of Forensicare. These roles will embed Forensicare's model of care in practice within the Loddon Mallee region, which will include assessing and managing violence risk, working collaboratively in a recovery-orientated framework and proactively developing and maintaining close professional relationships with the relevant AMHWS.
About the Role:
- The Manager, in conjunction with the team, will support the establishment of the regional site and operations.
- The Manager is responsible for coordinating the effective delivery of services delivered by the regional team. The role is required to coordinate the response to referral and program enquiries, develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the program, and ensure that performance targets are achieved. Working in vibrant regional Victoria, you will apply your specialist skills and advance your learning and career development. You will be involved in the establishment, evaluation, and further development of an important new service expansion. Together with other team members, you will contribute to a more connected, compassionate mental health and criminal justice system.
Duties:
- Provide high level management, clinical, and forensic expertise to the regional and rural team.
- Coordinate the implementation and operation of the regional team in conjunction with the Consultant Psychiatrist.
- Oversee the ongoing development and implementation of the service model for regional forensic mental health services
- Coordinate the delivery of the regional team’s interventions and reports.
- Provide high level advice to the Executive Director Community Operations and Director of Clinical Services on emerging issues likely to impact on the regional team.
- Contribute at a senior level to strategic planning and service development activities.
About You:
- Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery and incorporating consumer perspectives into service delivery.
- Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate Board or Association as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist.
- Demonstrated minimum 10-year post registration mental health experience.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate a multi-disciplinary team and lead complex programs effectively and efficiently.
- Extensive experience in undertaking comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessments, and in the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical mental health interventions.
- Highly developed and effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to consult, liaise, facilitate and negotiate with key stakeholders, mental health professionals, clients, and carers.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, mental health and criminal justice systems
This position will initially have a hybrid working arrangement between Paul Mullen Centre – Clifton Hill and home pending establishment of site post July 2025.

Our story
Forensicare (Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health) is the state-wide specialist provider of forensic mental health services in Victoria. Forensicare is the only agency in Victoria that provides clinical forensic mental health services which span all components of the mental health and criminal justice sectors – giving Forensicare a unique perspective on mental health and public safety issues. It is able to provide specialist forensic mental health services tailored to meet the specific needs of both sectors.
We provide forensic mental health services for people:
with a serious mental illness in the criminal justice system
at risk of offending who pose a risk to themselves or others
referred from the general mental health system for specialist advice, support and/or treatment.
Forensicare’s primary focus is the provision of clinical services within a recovery framework. These services include the effective assessment, treatment and management of forensic patients, prisoners and clients.
