Northern Health are seeking applications for a motivated and suitably experienced Research Governance Manager to join the Research Development and Governance Unit.

About Northern Health:

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our five main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

About the Role:

The Research Governance Manager will oversee the research governance functions of the Research Development and Governance Unit (RDGU), undertaking governance review of more complex and higher risk projects, guiding and developing the current research governance officers in their work, and reviewing the current local governance review processes to recommend and implement changes that improve efficiencies. The latter may include increased efficiencies within RDGU, as well as processes to support researchers in preparing high quality governance applications. The Research Governance Manager will act as a liaison with external Research Offices undertaking ethical review of Northern Health research projects.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A university degree relevant to health and medical research (or equivalent experience)
  • Expertise in governance of clinical research and in research governance authorization processes, preferably in an Australian health service
  • Experience in the clinical trials sector will be highly regarded, but not essential
  • Experience in assessing and managing research contracts
  • Demonstrated success in process improvement
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of the importance of building and maintaining a positive team culture
