About the position:

Due to a high volume of ongoing and upcoming land development and building projects, this position is vital to maintain the high standards and delivery timelines Axis Surveys is known for. The role ensures accurate conversion of field survey data into industry-compliant drawings, directly supporting project delivery and client satisfaction.

We are currently seeking a full-time Architectural Draftsperson to join our professional team in Brisbane. This is a critical role supporting our ongoing and upcoming land development and construction projects across the region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing, checking, and amending detailed surveying plans, such as contours and setouts, based on field data, using CAD and other specialist drafting tools. This role requires a high level of accuracy, strong software proficiency, and collaboration with both surveying and field teams.

A salary between AUD $$73,500 to $80,000 per annum + superannuation will be offered to the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Draft detailed surveying plans including contours, setouts, and cadastral drawings using CAD software.

Check and amend plans to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements and field data.

Collaborate with surveyors to interpret field notes and measurements and ensure drafting accuracy.

Perform updates and revisions to existing plans in line with updated project data.

Follow established procedures for quality control, documentation, and compliance with the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).

Prepare architectural documentation, including floor plans, elevations, and sections for buildings and construction projects using CAD software.

Assist architects and engineers in the preparation of working drawings and construction documentation in accordance with project specifications.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian industry standards and regulations.

Keep accurate records of plans and ensure files are properly named, saved, and stored in the company’s system.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

At least three years of experience in a drafting position, preferably within architecture, surveying or civil engineering.

Proficiency in Carlson software or experience with any AutoCAD software is highly regarded.

Ability to interpret and accurately draft from survey data.

Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with our internal operational software (ABS) data usage in drafting or surveying contexts is desirable.

Knowledge of Australian drafting standards and regulations is advantageous.

Experience in the construction or land development sector will be looked upon favourably.

A Diploma or higher qualification in Drafting, Surveying, Architecture or a related field is desirable
