Our client is a well-known Accounting Firm, and they are currently seeking a Japanese/English bilingual Junior Tax Accountant. This role involves a wide range of individual tax matters including complex tax returns, expatriate-related filings (FBT, salary packaging, overseas insurance, rent, leave benefits, etc.), and direct communication with clients and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

About the role:
Lodgment and preparation of individual tax returns, including complex cases involving multiple income sources, investments, overseas assets, and expatriate arrangements.
Assist with Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) reporting and compliance, especially for expatriate-related benefits (e.g., rent, car allowance, overseas insurance).
Report and communicate with the ATO, including phone discussions and written submissions.
Provide advice and assistance to clients regarding their tax obligations.
Managing communication and building strong client relationships.
Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to gather and verify relevant tax documentation.
Maintain accurate records and ensure timely submission of all reports and tax filings.
Skills and Experience:
Work experience in Japan or with Japanese clients.
Internship or work experience at an accounting firm. Or experience in the accounting or finance department in Japan.
1 – 3 years of experience in individual tax return preparation and FBT reporting within Australia is an advantage.
Native-level Japanese and business-level English (Write, Read, Listening, Speaking)
Qualifications in Accounting, e.g. Diploma, Bachelors degree, etc.
Accounting qualifications (e.g. CPA, CA, IPA) are not required, but a strong willingness to obtain them is essential.
Strong client-facing communication skills—both verbal and written.
High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
