About the Role
Amentum is seeking a Buyer I to join our team in Alice Springs. This is a unique opportunity to support a critical national program by managing end-to-end procurement and subcontract processes. You’ll be responsible for all aspects of purchase order administration — from acquisition planning and supplier sourcing through to negotiation, contract closeout, and compliance. This role also supports remote subcontract administrators and contributes to business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Administer cradle-to-grave procurement functions in accordance with company and government policies (FAR/DFARS)

Identify and negotiate with suppliers to meet cost, schedule, and compliance targets

Manage and process purchase requisitions, bids, and purchase orders

Evaluate proposals, perform cost/price analysis, and execute purchasing decisions based on best value

Support Business Development by providing accurate pricing inputs

Maintain procurement files in compliance with Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) standards

Liaise with cross-functional teams (Finance, AP, Program, Technical) and support small business goals

Assist with purchase order closeouts and preparation for audits

Uphold site safety and environmental standards in all procurement activities

Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or 1+ years of demonstrated experience in Procurement, Subcontracts, Contract Management, or related field
(Two years of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of the four-year degree)

Solid understanding of procurement practices and subcontract types (Cost-Plus, Fixed Price, T&M)

Strong communication, negotiation, and supplier relationship management skills

High proficiency in SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, and integrated ERP/procurement systems

Australian Driver’s Licence
