Your new role

Your new role will see you reporting to the Production Manager working 8.15am – 4.45pm Monday to Friday, no overtime. You will work in a team of planners, alongside one other Senior Planner adhering to a few varied tasks: planning tankers to be shipped to Victoria, purchasing and negotiating supplies such as steel from local and international markets being specifically Malaysia and Italy. With one manufacturing facility in Malaysia, you will work closely with the team to facilitate planning needs.
Your typical daily tasks will see you:

  • Importing materials such as steel, to Malaysia from local and international markets such as Italy;
  • Scheduling tankers in to ensure timely completion of execution, working closely with planning team;
  • Measure, monitor and report on supplier performance for in-house design manufacturing parts;
  • Working with Malaysian, Italian and Australian customs, and negotiating pricing where needed with suppliers;
  • Working with quarantine condition reports, and shipping tankers to Australia;
  • Effective flow of manufactured parts to production whilst minimising all types of inventory;
  • Manage stock holdings, replenishment systems and inventory counts for local and overseas inventory;
  • Buying and expediting of stock for local supply, along with updating supplier price-list
  • Cycle counts, running purchase orders, stocktaking, planning and scheduling controls to minimise stock held in ‘work in progress’ mode;
  • Using ERP systems, Excel and advanced usage of working with MS Office suite; and
  • Reporting, coordinating the collation of data, and information for production schedules.

What you need to succeed

  • Engineering background - ability to read technical engineering drawings;
  • Proven experience working in a prior planning / buying capacity within a high production manufacturing environment;
  • Some exposure to lean methodology and mindful of cost efficiency;
  • Exposure working with customs, executing detailed documentation – Malaysian, Italian and Australian;
  • Experience working with ERP, Excel and inventory control systems; and
  • Be highly organised, have strong attention to detail skills and a relationship – driven person maintaining good relationships with suppliers.
