We are seeking a dedicated Aged Care Cook to join our Community Services team in Pormpuraaw.

Reporting to the Aged Care Coordinator, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining meal menus with nutritional well-balanced meals for aged care clients. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring a clean and hygienic work environment, and work with the Team Leader to train and mentor kitchen staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain meal menus with nutritional well-balanced meals for aged care clients.

Implement the food safety plan ensuring a clean, hygienic & safe work environment is maintained.

Train and mentor kitchen staff on all matters of food safety and compliance.

Ensure compliance with the Aged Care nutrition and hydration requirements under the Aged Care Act.

Conduct food safety audits and ensure all foods are handled according to the food safety plan.

Plan and prepare special food orders for cultural events and aged care activities.

Skills and Experience:

Must have Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

Current Qld Driver's license desirable

Demonstrated experience as a cook in a catering operation.

Ability to complete duties and tasks unsupervised.

Experience supervising and mentoring staff.

Knowledge of dietary requirements of the elderly.

Advanced verbal and written communication skills.

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent will be highly regarded.

A one-bedroom self-contained staff accommodation unit will be provided as a non-cash benefit with electricity included in Pormpuraaw.

A clear national criminal history check will be required for this role.
