We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Produce Manager to help lead our produce department and contribute to our continued success.

Base Salary: The base salary for this position is between $70,000 and $90,000 per year, although we are open to negotiating based on experience and qualifications.

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Fruit & Veg 2IC to assist the department manager oversee daily operations. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, a willingness to go above and beyond, strong problem-solving abilities, extensive knowledge of fruits & vegetables, and a focus on customer service. As a key member of our management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the produce department, while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and assisting with sales growth.

Responsibilities:

Assist in oversight of daily operations of the produce department, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating produce to ensure maximum freshness and quality.

Assist with management and coordination of activities of the produce staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.

Assist with developing and implementing effective sales strategies to increase sales growth and improve customer satisfaction.

Assist with maintain a consistent Gross Profit (GP) percentage compared to sales, while staying within budget.

Assist with daily orders, ensuring that all products are received on time and in good condition.

Assist with hiring and firing staff within your department as needed, ensuring that the produce team is well-staffed and equipped to meet customer demands.

Maintain a clean and organised produce department, ensuring that all areas are safe and hazard-free.

Ensure that all produce is handled and displayed in accordance with company standards.

Operate a forklift as needed, with a valid forklift license.

Requirements:

Experience in fruit & veg management.

Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.

Ability to create and manage rosters, as well as take charge of daily orders.

Experience with inventory management and cost control.

Forklift license (or willingness to obtain one).

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on customer service.

Must be available to work afternoons, nights and Sundays.
