About the role

Aoraki Dairies is seeking a dedicated and experienced 2IC Dairy Farmer to join our close-knit team in Kenilworth, QLD. This is a full-time position that will see you playing a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our thriving dairy farm. As the 2IC, you will work closely with the Farm Manager to ensure the efficient and sustainable management of our herd and farming operations.

What you'll be doing

Assist the Farm Manager in overseeing all aspects of dairy farming operations, including herd management, pasture management, milking, and equipment maintenance

Monitor and maintain herd health and productivity, making informed decisions to optimise yields and animal welfare

Supervise and train farm workers, fostering a positive and productive work environment

Implement and maintain robust safety and biosecurity protocols to ensure the highest standards of compliance

Collaborate with the Farm Manager to develop and execute strategic plans for the continued growth and success of the farm

Contribute to the overall efficiency and sustainability of the farming operations

What we're looking for

Extensive experience (3+ years) in dairy farming, with a proven track record of success in a 2IC or similar supervisory role

Strong knowledge of dairy farming practices, including herd management, pasture management, and equipment operation and maintenance

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think strategically and adapt to changing conditions

Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and train a team

Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and biosecurity protocols

Relevant qualifications or certifications in agriculture or dairy farming
