We currently have a full-time permanent vacancy for a clerical officer in our State Forensic Mental Health Service (SFMHS) Admitted services. We are also seeking people interested in short term leave relief contracts across the SFMHS.

This is a recruitment pool for a Permanent or Fixed Term Full-Time and Part-Time Appointments. Fixed Term appointments have the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. Job Share arrangements may be considered.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur until 02 November 2026.

What is our Clerical Officer role?

This role provides an Administrative Service for the State Forensic Mental Health Service (SFMHS) Admitted Services, located at Graylands Hospital. The role maintains documentation of in-patient medical records, providing a confidential reception and administrative support service to a Multidisciplinary Team.

The Clerical Officer will:

  • Assist with correspondence, report submissions and minutes of meetings.
  • Utilise various Microsoft Office and health applications for data management, communication, documentation and other clerical tasks.
  • Answer payment queries by suppliers in an efficient and timely manner and process payment of invoices.
  • Maintain service medical records, managing requests for reports, while maintaining confidentiality throughout the process.

The State Forensic Mental Health Service (SFMHS) is undergoing an exciting period of change and growth, and within this dynamic environment, the clerical officer plays an essential role. This position provides clerical and organisational proficiency, with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. The clerical officer is expected to demonstrate initiative and discretion, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a key part of the administration and broader admitted services team.

There has been substantial State Government investment in forensic mental health services. Funding of over $185 million has been committed for new forensic admitted services, with further announcements expected. Additional services are also being implemented in relation to the Criminal Law Mental Impairment (CLMI) reform with expansion across all service streams.

In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
