Retail Strategy & Development Manager

Location: South East SA ​

Salary: $100k-$110k (negotiable based on experience) ​

Employment Type: 12-month contract, full-time (38 hours per week) ​

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for driving retail success and making a social impact? Lifeline South East is seeking a Retail Strategy & Development Manager to lead strategic marketing and commercial initiatives that enhance awareness, engagement, and sales across our retail shops and central sort warehouse. ​

About the Role: Reporting directly to the CEO, you will work closely with the Finance/Business Manager and lead a team including the Warehouse Manager and Shop Coordinators. ​ Your mission will be to increase revenue through effective brand positioning, community engagement, and optimising retail operations while fostering relationships with stakeholders, volunteers, and donors. ​

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement business plans to drive growth and profitability

Standardise policies and procedures for sales, procurement, and promotional activities

Review shop locations and viability and assist in agile retail expansion planning

Collaborate with warehouse management and shop coordinators to create annual sales plans and budgets

Lead, mentor, and guide staff to achieve operational excellence

Represent Lifeline South East at state and national events

Apply waste management strategies to reduce landfill contributions

Performance Criteria:

Increase turnover and profit for retail shops

Secure successful business opportunities to improve financial outcomes

Implement and review sales and procurement strategies quarterly ​

Foster collaboration with the CEO, Finance/Business Manager, and retail teams

About You: Essential Qualifications/Experience:

Significant experience managing multi-site retail operations, including sales, logistics, and product management

Strong financial management skills and experience developing business plans

Proven ability to lead and inspire teams to success

Expertise in strategic marketing campaigns and stakeholder relationship management

Knowledge of WHS and Risk Management strategies

Advanced interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:

Degree in Business Management or equivalent

Experience in recycling, upcycling, warehousing, and logistics

Knowledge of Retail POS systems and digital marketing platforms ​

Other Requirements:

Current unrestricted Australian driver’s license

Ability to travel intrastate and interstate, including overnight stays ​

Satisfactory completion of a Working with Children Check, National Police Check, drug and alcohol test, and medical assessment
